Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (abbreviated SHEQ) are key priority in all our business processes and activities.
SAFETY & QUALITY
We see safety management as a continuous process. That is why we have compiled a team of internal specialists who are involved amongst others in:
- • monitoring and improving safety levels within the company
- • inspections of vessels
- • advising clients, private owners and crew members regarding the safe transhipment and transportation of hazardous goods
- • investigating, analysing and reporting of incidents
- • aiming for zero incidents
Interstream Barging is ISO-certified. Procedures, instructions and reportings are recorded and followed up in an automated electronic quality system. Our barges are manned by qualified personnel. On a regular basis we provide education and training programmes regarding Safety, Health & Environment.
Our internal specialists act as a centre of expertise regarding legislation, product characteristics, technical innovations and developments on a European level. This knowledge is strengthened by membership of and participation in (international) committees and organisations representing the inland shipping industry. We recognise the importance of sharing this knowledge with our customers and affiliated ship owners.
As a company with a sustainable vision, we not only take account of commercial considerations but also look at the consequences of our business activities for people and environment. We go one step further than requested by legislation and regulations.
CERTIFICATES AND APPROVALS
As market leader, we are involved in the European Barge Inspection Scheme (EBIS). We are also represented at the European Skippers Organisation (ESO), the Platform Zero Incidents (PZI) and Binnenvaart Logistics Nederland. We also represent the International Inland Shipping Industry at the ADN Safety Committee in Geneva. At all of these organisations, we contribute to realising new legislation and regulations.
‘Food safety’ is a key priority at Interstream Barging Vegoil.
Our work processes are modelled on Industry, GMP+ and Inland Shipping Hygiene Code requirements.
